Mrs. Joyce Marie Walker, age 80 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, April 16, 2012, at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City. Joyce was born September 17, 1931, in St. Louis, Mo., the loving daughter (and only child) of Orville and Delilah Sanders Livesay, who both preceded her in death. She was married on December 16, 1950, in St. Louis, Mo., to Charles Allen Walker, who also preceded her in death on November 4, 1995. Joyce was a graduate of Cleveland High School in St. Louis, Mo. Shortly after graduating high school, Joyce married Charles Walker. They became the parents of three children and their lives revolved around their kids and Charles' career in the U.S. Air National Guard. Because of her husband's military career and positions he held with the federal government, Joyce lived in various locations including the Washington DC area and St. Louis. In 1991, they retired to a farm in Vienna, Mo. and following the passing of her husband, Joyce made her home in Jefferson City in 1997. Throughout Joyce's full and happy life, she was proud of her accomplishments as a mother, wife and homemaker. Her talents were many as an artist and an interior designer. She was a master hand quilter and an exquisite china painter. Her hobbies included: stamping, scrapbooking, playing cards, watching old movies, traveling, antiquing, cooking and baking, visiting with family and friends and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball games. Joyce's family and friends will remember her for her generosity, her kindness, her patience and her friendship. Loving survivors include two sons: Dan Allen Walker and his wife, Pamela Rice Walker, of St. Louis, Mo. and Stephen Walker and his wife, Marjorie Beenders, of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son-in-law: Dan Hodapp of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren: Aaron Walker of St. Louis, Mo., Kate Walker Kuse and her husband, Jason, of Jefferson City, Mo., Nathan Allen Walker of St. Louis, Mo., Griffin Charles Walker of Jefferson City, Mo., Emily Marie Hodapp and her friend, Steve Eli, of St. Louis, Mo.; two step-grandchildren: Bradley Beenders and his wife, Melissa, of St. Louis, Mo. and Tonya Beenders Speed and her husband, Richard of St. Louis, Mo.; four great-grandchildren: Ella Kuse and Grace Kuse of Jefferson City, Mo., Aiden Woodsmall and Laila Dawn Eli of St. Louis, Mo.; one step-great-grandchild: William Douglas Beenders of St. Louis, Mo.; and a devoted friend, Kim Bradley of Jefferson City. In addition to her loving parents, Orville and Delilah, and her husband and best friend of 45 years, Charles, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved Aunt Gladys and Uncle Tom Mason; her devoted daughter, Dawn Marie Hodapp; her precious grandson, John Daven Hodapp II, her dear step-mother, Ernestine Livesay and her fun-loving step-grandson, Douglas Beenders. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Chaplain Bart Larson officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Joyce will be laid to rest next to her departed husband, Col. Charles Allen Walker.
