Ashoor Bannipal Zia, 72, of Jefferson City, Missouri, died Monday, September 12, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born September 20, 1938, in Abadan, Iran, a son of Ishaiah David and Nellie Polus Zia. He was a 1964 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ashoor worked for Chesebrough-Ponds, Inc., from 1965 until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed travel and fishing and, above all, family was central to him throughout his entire life. On December 18, 1976, Ashoor was united in marriage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Eileen Sayad, who survives at their home. Other survivors include three children: Ninev Karl Zia of Indianapolis, Indiana, Roseanna Nellie Zia of Princeton, New Jersey, David John Zia of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; three sisters: Gladys Sargis and Claris Samuel, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nina Rose Ziolo of Webster, New York; one brother, Atur Raman Zia of Turlock, California; and one grandson, Taylor Joel Zia. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
