Mrs. Goldie Mae (Smith) Fox, age 90 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., departed this life September 6, 2011, with loved ones close by her side at Castleparke. She was born July 11, 1921 in Springfield, Mo., to Oliver and Francis Smith. Goldie was united in marriage to George Fox on August 13, 1938 in Marshfield, Mo., and after 68 years of marriage, George preceded her in death on November 28, 2004. Goldie was a full time homemaker and mom and loved nothing more than taking care of her family. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing and crafts of all kinds. She and George loved traveling and camping in their recreational vehicle. She was a devoted child of God and a long-time member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Brazito. She was active in women's ministries, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also involved for many years as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Those left to remember Goldie and celebrate her life are her four children: daughter, Barbara Dexter and her husband Joseph of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Michael and his wife Judy (Schreiber) Fox, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; son, Ron and his wife Mary Jo (Berendzen) Fox of Henley, Mo., and daughter, Debbie Gretlein of Jefferson City. She also is survived and missed by 13 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 7804 Heritage Highway, Jefferson City, Mo., with the Reverend Kim Smith officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
