Alvin Trampas Blackford, 46, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011, in Osage County, due to injuries sustained in a boating accident. He was born February 26, 1965, in Baytown, Texas, and was a 1984 graduate of La Porte High School in La Porte, Texas. Trampas was employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation District 5 and also the UPS facility in Jefferson City, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing, barbecueing, camping, NASCAR, watching the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros, being on the river and spending time with friends and family. Mr. Blackford is survived by his father and step-mother: Al and Nell Blackford of New Boston, Texas; his mother and step-father: Mary and Chuck Merchant of Moorefield, West Virginia; two sisters: Terri Hernandez of Baytown, Texas and Tiffany Sites and husband Collin of Moorefield, West Virginia; step-brothers: Robert Howard and wife Connie of Nacogdoches, Texas, David Merchant and wife Kim of South Carolina, Jerry Merchant of Florida; step-sister: Ashley Stonesifer and husband Greg of Seabrook, Texas, Lisa Merchant of La Porte, Texas and Sherry Hoyt of La Porte, Texas; brother-in-law: Cano Hernandez of Baytown; seven nephews; one niece; along with numerous friends and additional family. He was preceded in death by a step-brother, Donald Poston Howard. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
