Kathleen Marie Acree, 71, of Lake Mykee, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born March 6, 1940, in Jefferson City, to the late Charles Luther Pierson and Lena Weavers Veit. She had a special affection for her step-father, Herman Weavers, who raised her from age six after her father passed away. Kathy was married to the love of her life, Robert Acree of Fulton, in 1957. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2007. She attended St. Peter Elementary School, Helias High School and Lincoln University. After her retirement she completed most of the art courses available at William Woods University. Kathy was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City. She taught at St. Martins Catholic School and St. Peters Catholic School. She was later employed by the Division of Family Services where she worked as a caseworker in Fulton, Moberly, and Columbia and later was a supervisor in the Jefferson City Office. She was involved in volunteer work with Universal Adoptions in Jefferson City and was instrumental in establishing the first day care services in Moberly. Later in life she became interested in art and was involved in water color painting and was very competitive in many art shows. Including her husband Robert, she is survived by six children: Mr. and Mrs. Ken and Toni Haulotte of Round Rock, Texas, Robert Acree Jr. of Columbia, Terrence Michael Acree of Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Shane and Susie Rogers of New Bloomfield, Mr. and Mrs. Major George Robert Kemp and Valerie Acree of Polo, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nicholas Acree and Christine Acree of Holts Summit, 16 grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Tom McGrath officiating. Private family graveside service will be held in the St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
