Eleanor E. Jones

Mrs. Eleanor E. Jones, age 85 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, October 7, 2011, at her home.
Eleanor was born September 11, 1926, in Maryville, Mo., a daughter of Roy and Esther Gordon Arthur.
She was married on June 17, 1951, in Jefferson City, Mo. to F.Harold Jones, who preceded her in death on August 26, 2009.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Eleanor graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1944, and from Jefferson City Junior College in 1946.
She was employed at Tweedies Shoe Factory and later became a secretary with the Department of Education, retiring in 1957.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Kings's Daughter Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and was a Beta Sigma Phi.
Eleanor had many hobbies that included: antiquing, knitting and decorating. Her favorite pastime though was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and keeping up with old friends.
Survivors include: her daughter, DeAnn Mealy and her husband Mitch of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Mitzi Napier and her husband Steve of Holts Summit, Mo., Marc Mealy and his wife Monnie of Linn, Mo. and Matthew Mealy of Jefferson City, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, David McCannon, Haylee McCannon, Tyler Wolken-Mealy and Miranda Vanzant; four nieces and nephews, Roy S. Arthur, David R. Arthur and his wife Kathleen, Katherine E. Arthur, and Lori L. Backes and her husband Anthony; and a half nephew, Doug Stiverson and his wife Jo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jones; one brother, Roy R. Arthur; and a half brother, Carol Stiverson.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, the Special Learning Center or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
