Mr. Robert N. "Bob" Wright, age 72 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Bob was born on November 24, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Clarence E. and Elma I. Cousins Wright. He was married on September 6, 1959, in Centerville, Iowa, to Sarah Orvella Stuart. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Centerville High School in Centerville, Iowa and served in the Iowa National Guard during high school. After high school he served four years in the United States Air Force. He later joined the Missouri Army National Guard, where he served in the Persian Gulf during Desert Storm, retiring in 1992. A resident of the Jefferson City area for over 40 years, Bob was employed with K-Mart, starting as their merchandise manager, then became the manager of their toy department, and later retired in 2002 as their pharmacy technician. He was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church in Holts Summit; the Order of the Eastern Star, New Bloomfield #138 where he was a Worthy Patron 11 times; a member of the New Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #60 A.F. & A.M. where he served as a Worshipful Master and as a past District Deputy Grand Master; a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2693; the Missouri Lodge of Research; the Missouri National Guard Association; and former member and treasurer of the Capital City Squares. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, watching sports, cooking, traveling, but most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Orvella Wright; one daughter, Lauri J. Elston of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, Scott A. Wright and his wife Becky of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his step-mother, Opal Wright of Mederville, Iowa; two brothers, Edward A. Wright and his wife Debbie of Portsmouth, Va. and Michal E. Wright of Peoria, Ill.; two step-brothers, Jack Resor and his wife Jean of Masonville, Iowa, and Jerry Resor and his wife Betty of Toledo, Iowa; two step-sisters, Pat Kellogg and her husband J.P. of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Phyllis Krull of Lincoln, Neb.; his brother-in-law, David Stuart and his wife Emily of Centerville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Chanelle D. Wright of Collinsville, Ill., Amanda P. Lueckenhoff of Jefferson City, Mo., Gary C. Wright of Blue Springs, Mo., and Melyssa S. Elston of Jefferson City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Robert Michael Wright in 1962; and two sisters-in-law, Elaine Wright and Connie Wright. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2011. Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Freeman Chapel. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend David Hartsfield officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the New Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #60, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #138, or the Shiloh Methodist Church in Holts Summit, Mo.
