Walter Lee Gibson, 60, of Holts Summit, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Mo. He was born April 6, 1951, in Mexico, Mo., a son of Perry and Margaret (Summers) Gibson. He was united in marriage on August 2, 1969, in Columbia, Mo., to Rosemary Whitehead, who survives at their home. Walter attended Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo. He and his wife owned and operated Gibson Plastering, Gibson Restaurants, Gibson Properties and Road Runner Truck and Auto. He was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Fulton. Walter enjoyed his '65 Chevrolet Malibu, building motors, racing, going to the Lake of the Ozarks and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Including his wife, Rosemary Gibson, and mother, Margaret Gibson, he is also survived by six children: Walter Gibson, Jr. (Stacie), Jeremiah Gibson (Emily), Timothy "TJ" Gibson, Melinda Ellis (Keith), Dusty Gibson (Alisha), and Katie Gibson, all of Holts Summit; three sisters: Vanda Rice (Larry) of Ashland, Marsha Boelkes (Chuck) of Bonnots Mill and Barbara Gibson; one brother: Billy Gibson (Donna) of Taos; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters: Cheryl Gibson and Linda Gibson. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Victory Fellowship Church in Fulton, Mo. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Richie Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Bull Cemetery near Holts Summit.
