Robert D. Bledsoe, 77, of Jefferson City, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Golden Living Center. He was born November 26, 1933, in Cairo, Illinois, a son of the late Robert F. Bledsoe and Elizabeth Rowland. On September 1, 1979, Robert was united in marriage to Norma Roark Kelley, who survives at their home. Robert attended high school in Cairo, Illinois, and the seminary in Garden, Nebraska. He was employed with the Jefferson City Transit from 1980 to 1996. Robert was involved in prison ministry for 25 years at Central Missouri Correctional Center. He loved reading the Bible and spiritual books, gardening, cooking and decorating birthday cakes. He was a former member of Solid Rock Church and is now a member of Life Rock Church in Columbia. He is survived by his four children: Robert Mark Bledsoe of Calvert City, Kentucky, Michael Lee Bledsoe (Kathy) of Doyline, Louisiana, Sonya Sue Arnold of Paducah, Kentucky, and Melissa Kay Miller (Jeff) of Lewiston, Idaho; three step- children: Bob Kelly (Debbie) of Holts Summit, Linda Jennings (Ernst) of Holts Summit, and Kathy Bommel (Dan) of Lohman; one brother: Ronald Bledsoe (Pat) of Batchtown, Illinois; two sisters: Jewell Kline ( Mike) of Columbia and Alma Davis (Jerry) Evansville, Indiana; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Solid Rock Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Solid Rock Church, with Rev. Joe Skiles and Rev. Bob Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Golden Living Center or SSM Hospice.
