Mr. Robert R. "Bob" Pratt, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011. He was born November 8, 1928, in Blytheville, Ark., the son of L.B. and Ola Ward Pratt. He was married on July 24, 1976, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Eva M. Meredith Ordway. A nearly lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Bob graduated from Jefferson City High School and the Jefferson City Junior College where he played on the Bears Basketball Team. Bob was employed with the Public Finance Company in Sedalia and Springfield, Mo. for several years. In 1969, he founded Robert R. Pratt Real Estate Company that he operated for over 40 years. From 1972 until 1980, he served as Cole County Public Administrator. In 1980, he branched out into the real estate appraisal business; at that time, he became the Chief Appraiser for Cole County during the time of property reassessment. Bob was the principal of Pratt Appraisal Inc. until he sold the company in 1997 and continued to work for the firm for several more years. He was one of the longest tenured members of the Jefferson City Board of Realtors and was honored as Outstanding Realtor of the year in 1974. Bob was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a past member of Jefferson City Rotary West, the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, and the Jefferson Democrat Club. He was selected as the Heart Star of the 2002 Heart Ball/Heart Walk for the American Heart Assn. and has supported other charities and local organizations. Bob moved to Rocky Mount, Mo. in 2005 where he continued working in the real estate business. He enjoyed the Lake of the Ozarks area and had planned to eventually retire there. Bob enjoyed going to auctions, restoring homes, and loved dogs. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wife, Eva Pratt; four sons, David Pratt and his wife Louise Saucier of Mary's Home, Mo., Dr. Douglas Pratt and his wife Ele Ibarra-Pratt of Kensington, Md., William Pratt and his wife Karen King of Columbia, Mo., and Dennis Pratt and his wife Cindy of Rowlett, Texas; one daughter, Amy Bernskoetter and her husband Ron of Jefferson City, Mo.; four step-sons, Frederick Ordway and his wife Nancy Ellis-Ordway, Greg Ordway and his wife Linda of Columbia, Mo., Jeffrey Ordway and his wife Connie of Harbor City, Calif., and Shawn Ordway and his wife Nancy of Jefferson City, Mo.; two step-daughters, Jean Weidmaier and her husband Rob of Platte City, Mo., and Charlene Wolf and her husband James of El Paso, Texas; 37 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Frances Rose Pratt Goodlin in 2007; and one brother, Bill Pratt. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Truman Hotel, 1510 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, Mo. Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Assn. or the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
