Vernon Clifford White, 92, of Chamois, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Autumn Meadows in Linn. He was born June 2, 1918, in New Florence, a son of Floyd and Adah (Hensley) White. He was married on June 15, 1968, at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois to Alice Boss, who preceded him in death in 2006. Vernon served in the United States Army during World War II as a training instructor. Upon his return home, he worked for Standard Oil Company in Chamois and later for the REA co-op in Chamois until his retirement. Survivors include one brother, Rex White and wife Dora of Chamois, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois. Graveside services and interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery with Fr. David Means officiating.
