Billy Fletcher, 75, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at his home. Billy was born on November 21, 1935, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Cecil and Goldie Fay Lairmore Fletcher. He was united in marriage with Marie Sims on October 20, 1990, and she survives. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic, pipe fitter, welder and truck driver most of his life. He also worked at KMC Manufacturing for five years. Survivors include children, Buddy Fletcher, (Sue), Cynthia Fletcher, (Joe), and Terry Thompson (Mark); grandchildren, JC Darby, Aaron Fletcher, Buddy Fletcher Jr., Ryan Fletcher Fulmer, Shaylene, Havalah, Des'ree, Tiffany; one great granddaughter; sisters, Opal Spencer, Viola Wilson, Ester Longcrier; brother, Earl Fletcher; step-son, David Sims (Sandy); step-grandchildren, Whitney Sims, Samantha Johnson, Sara, Nathan, Mitchell Sims; four step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 18, 1 to 2 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, with military honors following at Memorial Park Cemetery. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wife.
