Pawnee "Pat" Patricia Deel, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Golden Living Center. She was born January 26, 1918, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the daughter of the late Earl M. and Angie (Steele) Akers. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke, Virginia, and went on to graduate from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Tennessee. On July 2, 1939, she was united in marriage in Roanoke, Virginia, to Frank Deel, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1997. Pat worked for Millsaps for over 35 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she also helped with the church newsletter. She was an avid golfer and member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, where she served as Chairperson of the Women's Golf Association in 1970 and 1974. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. Pat is survived by two daughters: Judith Anne Vieth of Jefferson City; Rebecca J. Veit of Centertown; one son: Frank (Chip) L. Deel III (wife Tamara) of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Leslie Vieth, Lisa Rush, Christopher Vieth, Stacy Steen, Sara Steen-Parr, Ryan Deel, Cody Deel, Riley Deel, Eden Deel, Nicole Deel; and five great-grandchildren: Bailey Vieth, Adam Rush, Emily Rush, Alexis Deel and Gannon Deel. She was also preceded in death by a son: Peter C. Deel on November 9, 1993. Friends will be received from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, where a Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Rob Erickson and Rev. Dave Henry officiating. Private family interment will be held at Sherwood Cemetery in Salem, Virginia. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
