Margaret Brand

Mrs. Margaret C. Brand, age 89 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family. Margaret was born May 10, 1922, in Meta, Mo., the daughter of Joseph L. and Catherine Herigon Evers. She was married on January 19, 1946, in Meta, Mo., to Werner Henry Brand, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1959. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Margaret was employed with the International Shoe Factory, St. Mary's Health Center, and operated Willibrands CafÈ for a short time. She was then employed with Unilever for 23 years prior to retiring on March 1, 1992. Margaret was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters, Lucy C. Schmidt of Fair Grove, Mo., Sharon L. Hoffman and her husband Jim of Columbia, Mo., and Joann Long and her husband Kenny of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Frank Evers of Neosho, Mo. and Joseph Evers of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Marie Barnett and her husband Lewis of Valley Park, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jason Schmidt, Angela Brand, Craig Brand, Mike Brand, Jamey Brand, Sarah Hoffman, and Miranda Long; and five great-grandchildren, Holden Brand, Gavin Brand, Landon Parker, Caleb Miller, and Carrie Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Leon W. Brand on October 25, 1967 and Robert Brand on April 7, 2004; one daughter, Alberta Ann Mantle on July 4, 1989; two sisters, Rita Kampeter and Catherine Thornburg; and one brother, Samuel Evers. Visitation will be at Immaculate Conception Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Alex Ekka officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Taos. Mo. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Immaculate Conception Church or Hospice Compassus.
