Mrs. Rosemary E. Gordon, age 93 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at her home. Rosemary was born October 24, 1917, in Columbia, Mo., the daughter of George H. and Emma Pearl Davis Edwards. She was married on August 18, 1938, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Herbert L. Gordon Sr., who preceded her in death on February 23, 2001. A life long resident of the Jefferson City area, Rosemary graduated from Jefferson City High School. A homemaker, Rosemary was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She provided loving care to her family through her sewing, cooking, and gentle guidance. She loved to read and was a very special friend to all those who knew her. She and husband, Herb owned and operated Herb Gordon Appliance from 1948 until 2001. Rosemary was a member of the First Christian Church and the Rebekah Social Circle. Survivors include: one son, Herbert L. "Bo" Gordon Jr. and his wife Jeanne Marr Gordon of Lake Ozark, Mo.; one daughter, Susie Gordon Downard and her husband John of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Curtis Gordon Hanrahan of Jefferson City, Mo., Paige Gordon Phifer of Middleway, West Virginia, Betsy Gordon Marshall of Richmond, Mo., and Stacy Downard Phillips of Ashland, Mo.; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Geneva Mason. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Barbara Gulick officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus or the First Christian Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
