Ivo John Pickert

Ivo John Pickert, 83, of Jefferson City, died Friday, July 8, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born on July 20, 1927, in Richmond, Kan., the son of the late John C. and Elizabeth Brummel Pickert. After moving to the Garnett area, Ivo attended school in Anderson County and graduated in 1941. Ivo then went to work at Jefferson Dairy, Graham Dairy, and Whiteford Store to help support his family. On May 9, 1945, Ivo joined the Navy and served until July 1946, when he received an honorable discharge. After moving to Jefferson City and working at St. Mary's Health Center, Ivo met Johanna Henrietta Forck whom he married on August 25, 1948. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2005. Ivo had a small trucking company where he made hauls from Westphalia to Jefferson City. He later owned and operated Burkels Shoe Store until his retirement in 1980. Ivo was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph which has played an important part of his life. Ivo will be sadly missed by his family and friends and remembered for his kind gentle ways. Survivors include: one sister, Berniece Steele, Garnett, Kansas; two brothers-in-law, Cyril Forck, Memphis, Tenn.; Joe (Bonnie) Forck, Jefferson City; three sisters-in-law, Rosemary Forck, Jefferson City; Theresa (Don) Markway, Jefferson City; Yvonne (Bill) Wittman, Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Pickert, Elmer Pickert, Herman Pickert, Harold Pickert; and two sisters, Irene Feuerborn and Bertha Sobba. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2305 West Main, Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109; or to the Carmelite Monastery, 2201 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
