Frances Laverne Riley, 76, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, January 27, 2011, at her residence. She was born on October 8, 1934, in Lebanon Junction, Ky., the daughter of the late Stanford Sr. and Martha Ellen Harned Shuffitt. She was united in marriage on April 24, 1954, in Bardstown Junction, Ky., to Donald Earl Riley, who preceded her in death on January 24, 2002. Mrs. Riley was a 1952 graduate of Lebanon Junction (Kentucky) High School. A homemaker, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church and Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener and greatly enjoyed ceramics and crafts. Survivors include one son, Duffy (Gale) Riley, Jefferson City; three daughters, Penny (Dr. Alan) Braun, Norwalk, Iowa, Robin Riley, Jefferson City, and Lisa (Bill) Wilson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Faye (Donnie) Dones, Bardstown, Ky., Vickie McFelia, Elizabethtown, Ky., and Rita (Jerry) Boyd, Elizabethtown, Ky.; and two brothers, Joe (Janet) Shuffitt and Wayne (Martha Ann) Shuffitt, both of Lebanon Junction, Ky. She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Katherine Riley and Jennifer Kursave; three sisters, Louise Mullins, Geneva Carter, and Joyce Starcher; two brothers, Ernest Shuffitt and Stanford Shuffitt Jr.; and one daughter-in-law, Donna M. Riley. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Capital West Christian Church with the Rev. Ken Harland officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10-12:00 noon on Saturday at Capital West Christian Church. Memorials are suggested to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 919 E. Miller Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
