Mary Lee Kliethermes, 87, of Bunceton, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at her residence. She was born on May 31, 1923, in Aholt, a daughter of the late John A. and Georgia Peters Oidtman. She attended Cadet Creek Grade School and Bonnots Mill High School. She was united in marriage on May 15, 1946, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek to Virgil Francis Kliethermes, who preceded her in death on August 17, 1982. Mary Lee was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, yard work, playing cards and traveling. She was an active member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Alter Society, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer at St. Andrew's Catholic School in Tipton for 28 years. She enjoyed going to Tipton Oaks Manor to pray the Rosary with the residents and organizing the funeral luncheons for St. Andrew's Church. She is survived by her nine children, Leon Kliethermes and his wife Carrie of Boonville, Georgia, Jones-Kliethermes of Independence, Mark Kliethermes and his wife Mary Kay of Independence, Gary Kliethermes and wife Diane of Frankenstein, Stephen Kliethermes of Bunceton, Daniel Kliethermes and wife Colleen of Columbia, Gene Kliethermes and wife Janice of Bunceton, Carl Kliethermes and wife Helen of Bunceton, and Thomas Kliethermes and wife Lori of Fairmont, W. Va.; one brother, John Oidtman of Linn; three sisters, Martha Mitchell of Independence, Jacqueline "Jackie" Muenks of Loose Creek, and Jean Marie Porting of Loose Creek; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lee was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mary Ann Kliethermes; and two sisters, Patricia Muenks and Genrose Haslag. Friends will be received from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tipton, where a rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tipton, with Father Fred Elskamp officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Catholic Church Cemetery in Tipton. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Andrew's School Foundation, Masses or Hospice Compassus.
