Pauline F. Jenkins, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 14, 1933 in Bachelor, a daughter of Don P. and Ola O. (Love) Jeffries. She was a 1951 graduate of Mexico High School. On January 10, 1953, Pauline was united in marriage in Mexico to John Jenkins, who survives at their home. Pauline had worked for Liberty Theater and was a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone, both in Mexico, and for GNC in Jefferson City. She was a very artistic person who expressed her creativity in many ways, including painting and writing. Most of all, Pauline enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She is also survived by two daughters: Shirlene "Skeeter" Hackney and husband Doug of Kansas City, and Suzi Thomas and husband Jeff of Jefferson City; six grandchildren: Casey Swope, Ian Thomas and companion Destanie, Candice Thomas Shockley and husband Boyd, Julie Ortiz and husband Danny, Mandy Jenkins, Jolene Jenkins; four great-grandchildren: Jae Shockley, Marley Thomas, Kyler Ortiz, Noah Ortiz; and 10 siblings: Lois McDermit and husband Donnie of Mexico, Charlett Wilson and husband Bill of Mexico, Carl Jeffries and companion Carolyn of Mexico, Harold Jeffries and wife Marsha of Olean, Wanda Davis and husband Bob of Mexico, Clifford Jeffries and wife Lucille of Mexico, Howard Jeffries and wife Cindy of Mexico, Lloyd Jeffries of Fulton, Martha Brown and husband Larry of Mexico, and John Jeffries of Fulton. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Ola Jeffries; one son, Dennis Jenkins; three sisters, Mae Kelsay, Norma Nichols, Sue Rose; and one brother, Don Jeffries Jr. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Private family interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery.
