Martha Wright

Martha Louise "Bunny" Wright, age 94, of Russellville, Ark., passed away Saturday, December 29, 2010, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. The daughter of Harry Samuel and Martha Louise Miles Berlin, she was born August 18, 1916, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was married to Leonard Lentz Wright on May 6, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio. Bunny graduated from Ohio State University in 1938 with a BS degree in Business. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and held the title of Ohio State diving champion for several years. In 1966, she earned a degree in primary education at Youngstown University in Youngstown, Ohio. Leonard's career carried them from Pennsylvania to Georgia to Missouri and finally back to Pennsylvania. They then spent five years in Mexico City, where Bunny was active in the American community and the Presbyterian church. Bunny and Leonard retired to Russellville in 1981, where she and Leonard were both active in the Republican Party of Pope County. She was a long-standing member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club, where she held a variety of offices through the years, and she was a faithful member of her ladies' sewing club for many years. She had a lifelong interest in her family's history and genealogy, and she was a Daughter of the American Revolution and a Magna Charta Dame. Both she and her husband belonged to the congregation of All Saints Episcopal Church in Russellville. Bunny is survived by three daughters, Donna Martin and husband Craig H. of Russellville, Louise Larason and husband Jerry L. of Anderson, S.C., and Elizabeth "Betsy" and James J. of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, including Julie and Keith McElwaine of Jefferson City, Matthew Thomas of Taos, N.M., and Drew Thomas, also of Jefferson City; 12 great- grandchildren and 10 nephews and nieces. She was a devoted wife and beloved mother. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by Leonard, her husband of 68 years; by her daughter, Julie Ann Wright; and by her brothers, Harrison Samuel Berlin and Roger Miles Berlin.
