Christopher Reed

Christopher D. Reed, age 31, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011. Chris was born September 11, 1979, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Daniel L. and Jean M. Reed. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Chris was a 1997 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He attended the University of Missouri and was scheduled to graduate from Lincoln University in May, 2011. Chris was employed as a server with Madison's Cafe for the past 10 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he enjoyed taking part in many of the youth activities, including the mission trips and Colorado ski trips. Chris enjoyed reading and listening to music, snow skiing, spending time at the beach, and most importantly, entertaining his family and friends. Survivors include: his parents, Dan and Jean Reed of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, James A. Reed and Katherine of Columbia, Mo. and Michael P. Reed and Shelby of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Pamela Wurtzler and her husband Dan of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dana Reed of Fulton, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Cleta and Ed Kintner of Jefferson City, Mo.; three nieces, Rachel Reed, Elizabeth Wurtzler, and Catherine Wurtzler; and one nephew, Michael P. Reed Jr. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011. A Celebration of Chris' Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
