Mrs. Ida Ecton Lang, age 72 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, January 2, 2011, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Ida was born September 16, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of William P. and Clara V. Wilson Popham. She was married on August 16, 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia to Paul J. Lang who preceded her in death on July 7, 2009. A resident of the Jefferson City area for most of her life, Ida was employed at Memorial Community Hospital for several years and later as the desk manager at the Monroe Plaza Hotel for 12 years prior to her retirement in 2005. Survivors include: two sons, Don F. Ecton and his wife Lisa of Jefferson City, Mo. and Jeffrey D. Ecton of Farmington, Mo.; four step-sons, Paul F. Lang III and his wife Peggy of Wentzville, Mo, James Lang and his wife Felicia of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Lang and his wife Paula of Wright City, Mo., and Richard Lang and his wife Kellie of Indianapolis, Indiana; one step-daughter, Deborah Swetnam and her husband Cloyd of Moscow Mills, Mo.; one brother, William P. Popham and his wife Barbara of Milford, Delaware; two grandsons, 15 step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Molly Meszaros and Nancy Adcox; one step- daughter, Loretta Zumsteg, and one grandson, Michael Ecton. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Joshua Hartley officiating. Interment will be at the Enloe Cemetery near Russellville, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ida Ecton Lang Memorial Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
