Marian H. Schmitz, age 88, of Loose Creek, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011, at Autumn Meadows Skilled Nursing Facility in Linn. Marian was born June 9, 1922, in Loose Creek, a daughter to the late Henry and Henrietta (Helmers) Lock. Marian graduated from Loose Creek Catholic School and attended Capitol Business College in Jefferson City where she studied business courses. On November 26, 1943, she was united in marriage to Jerome "Jerry" Schmitz in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2000. Marian was a homemaker and also worked at the Osage County Assessor's Office in Linn and Scholastics until her retirement in 1987. Marian was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus in Bonnots Mill, a member of the Osage County Historical Society, St Ann's Sodality and the sewing club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, playing cards, sewing and her dogs. Marian is survived by: one son, Donald L. and his wife Darlene Schmitz of Columbia; two grandchildren, Margaret Schmitz of Chicago and Matthew Schmitz of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Alice Lock of Loose Creek and Angie Lock of Jefferson City; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Edward Lock. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek with Fr. I.C. Medina as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception School or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Chapel, Linn, Mo. (573-897-2214)
