Gladys Betty Davis, 85, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011, at St. Joseph's Bluffs. She was born November 1, 1926, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Edward and Clara Horstdaniel Weaver. On April 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to James Luther Davis, who survives at the home. Gladys attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and Jefferson City High School. She was employed by Farm Bureau and State Health Laboratory for 37 years until her retirement. Gladys was a member of AARP, Daughters of Isabella, ARMSE, St. Mary's Auxiliary and Retired State Workers Association. At Immaculate Conception Church she was active in Immaculata Club, St. Ann's Sodality, Worship and Spiritual Development Committee and a lector for Sunday Masses. She loved vegetable and flower gardening and was a very good cook. Her hobbies included traveling all over the country. She especially enjoyed the annual family vacations to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Gladys and her husband danced with the Capital Kicks Dance Club. Gladys is survived by one daughter: Betsy Lauf, husband Jim, of Jefferson City; one son: Eddy Davis, wife Tina, of Jefferson City; one brother: Charlie Weaver, wife Darlene, of Jefferson City; two sisters: Irene Smith of Jefferson City and Mary Schmidt, husband Joe, of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Weaver. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Msgr. David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
