Betty Ann Dahl Parent, 80, of Centertown, Missouri. passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital with her family at her side. She was born on January 9, 1931, in Pilot Grove, Missouri, the daughter of Jack H. and Alma Ruth Hurt Needy. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jack Wayne Needy and her husband Edward J. Parent, whom she married September 8, 2000. Known to her family as Nana, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a fun loving spirit, was outgoing, and devoted herself to caring for her husband and her family. She was a graduate of Tipton High School in 1948, and upon graduation attended Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. and later, the University of Missouri, where she majored in Commerce. She held various accounting/ bookkeeping positions including the position of City Clerk of Tipton and Office Manager for JeJoJa, Inc. In 1952, she married Glen W. Dahl. Four children were born to this marriage; Glenda, Marsha, Susie and Rick . Betty lived much of her adult life in Tipton. She was an accomplished pianist and gave piano lessons for a number of years. A member of the Tipton United Methodist Church, she enjoyed playing the piano and directing the choir. She was a long-time member of the Tipton Country Club and a local bridge club. She was an avid Mizzou sports fan and enjoyed rooting the Tigers to victory. She enjoyed music, dancing, playing dominos and cards, and visiting with her family and friends. Survivors include: three daughters, Glenda Hall (Jim) of Columbia, Marsha Frevert (Tim) of Jefferson City, and Susie Dahl Weber (Bob) of Jefferson City; one son, Rick Dahl (Maria) of Jefferson City; two stepsons, Rick Parent (Althea) of Denton, Texas and Joe Parent (Susan) of Missoula, Montana; six grandchildren, Leslie Garber Kersha, Landon Garber, Andy Hall, Aaron Hall, Hannah Dahl, Hunter Dahl and seven step-grandchildren, Anita Frevert Thompson, Dianna Frevert Jones, Dave Parent, Sam Parent, Steve Parent, Chris Parent, and Katie Wylie. In addition, multiple great- grandchildren survive. Visitation will be at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton, Missouri on Sunday, December 11, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Tipton United Methodist Church on Monday, December 12, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association, Tipton Methodist Church or United Methodist Church in Jefferson City.
