Viola White, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Golden Living Center. She was born September 4, 1917, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, a daughter of Lee and Rachel (Love) Mitchell. She was united in marriage on March 31, 1963, to Moses White, who preceded her in death on November 13, 1988. Viola loved to cook and was employed at several businesses throughout Jefferson City, including Lincoln University, Oak Tree Villas, Roadway Inn, Jefferson City Manor, Hen House and the Jefferson City Country Club. She loved being around family, mainly her grandkids, two of whom living close by: LaJavion White and Tyane Stewart. Viola also loved doing puzzle books, reading the Bible, and chewing tobacco. She was also known as "Mama White". She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved son: Bruce Edward White, stationed at Camp Robinson in Little Rock, Ark.; a grandson she raised: Adonnys Brushad Jordan of Kansas City, Mo.; a granddaughter she raised: Toni Louise White of Jefferson City, Mo.; and a host of other grandkids, nieces, nephews, foster kids, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2011, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Rance Austin officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
