Kenny Rackers, 63, of Taos, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born August 11, 1948, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Clarence and Dina Dudenhoeffer Rackers. On August 13, 1968, he was united in marriage to Beckie Becker, who survives at the home. Kenny attended Helias High School and was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Kenny was employed with Becker Millworks, Larry Buechter Construction and was the maintenance supervisor at Blair Oaks Schools, where he retired. Kenny had many hobbies. He enjoyed antiquing. He was also a master craftsman. He built his own home where he and his family lived, refinished antique furniture and made new furniture for his family and friends and built intricate grandmother clocks. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Along with his wife Beckie, he is survived by one son: Mark Rackers of Taos; two brothers: Albert John Rackers of Florida and Carl Anthony Rackers and wife Lisa of Jefferson City; three sisters: Shirley Gretlein and husband Richard, Joan Hagner and husband Robert, and Diana Heidbreder, all of Jefferson City; and one brother-in-law: Ron Jones of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Rackers and Ronald Rackers; and one sister: Patricia Jones. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Taos Knights of Columbus Hall, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Boyer officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Blair Oaks Schools, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, or the American Cancer Society.
