Harold W. Rutherford, 86, of Curryville, peacefully went to be with the Lord Friday, August 12, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 29, 1924, in Corso, the son of Russell Floyd and Mildred Elizabeth Farmer Rutherford. He married Darline Clemens Green on November 18, 1945, in the home of Rev. Mitchell in Bowling Green. Harold and Darline celebrated 65 years of marriage last November. Harold was a lifelong resident of Pike County. He attended Pike County rural schools. He farmed along side his father for over 50 years. During his life he enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, and visiting with friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His grandkids brought smiles to his face and he spent many moments remembering their special expressions or sayings. He was a dedicated member of Concord Cemetery Association, where he had served as cemetery sexton for many years. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church until it closed. Then became a member of Curryville Presbyterian Church. He served as elder and deacon at both churches for many years. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Beverly Kay Morff (Roger) of Jefferson City and Sandra Jo Edmond (Jerry) of Taylor; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Shelley Morff, Alicia Blackford (Eric) and son Corbin, Sarah Richter (David) and daughters, Hannah and Ava, Brent Edmond, son Lathyn and special friends Cassie and Nivarra. Preceding him in death were his parents. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., today, Tuesday August 16, 2011, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with Rev. Mike Lewton officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery near Bowling Green. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent W. Edmond, James R. Willis, Terry V. Willis, John Shaw, R. D. Wilkinson and Bill Wilkinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelley Morff, Alicia Blackford, Sarah Richter, Danny Worthington, Robert Thompson, Roy Dietle and Jim Green. Memorials may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice, Curryville Presbyterian Church or Concord Cemetery.
