James Edward "Jim" Mantle, age 66, of Bonnots Mill, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011, close to his little farm where he loved to hunt and spend time. Jim was born September 19, 1944, in Bonnots Mill, a son to the late James Burnis Mantle and Elizabeth Linnenbrink Mantle Sieg. He was also the step-son of the late Chester Sieg, who was the only Dad he ever knew. Jim was united in marriage to Rita Jo Kremer, his high school sweetheart, on April 27, 1963, at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek. She survives at the home. Jim graduated from Osage R-III Fatima High School in 1962. He owned his own upholstery shop for over 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his dog, Max. He especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Jim was a member of St. Louis of France Catholic Church, where he had served on the Parish Council. He was also a Knights of Columbus member, Council 2027. Over the years, he had been a Linn Volunteer Fire Fighter, a member and officer on the Ambulance Board of Directors, and an Osage County Farm Bureau Board Member. In addition to his wife Rita, he is survived by one son, Scott Mantle and his wife Julie of Bonnots Mill; four daughters, Shelley Trube and her husband Chris of Jefferson City, Shannon Haslag and her husband Wesley "Mole" of Loose Creek, Suzanne Massman and her husband Patrick "Crotch", and Sarah Brendel and her husband Harold "George", both of Westphalia; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Fick and special friend Jamie Brunnert, Danielle Wilbers and her husband Wes, Lindsey Shanks and her husband Brandon, Whitney Haslag, Neil Mantle, Kayla Haslag, Cruise Trube, Eric Brendel, JoDee Massman, Paige Trube, AnnaBelle Massman and Evan Brendel; one great-grandson, Grant Wilbers; one brother, Gerald Mantle and his wife Nancy; three half-brothers, Leo "Bud" Sieg and his wife Shirley, Richard Sieg, Bruce Sieg and his wife Jennifer; four half-sisters, Helen Ferguson and her husband Jim, Patty Grothoff and her husband Mike, Mary Huhn and her husband Bob, and Doris Dolce and her husband Chas; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one half-sister, Cathy Rehagen; and one half-brother, Chester Sieg Jr. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at St. Louis of France Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Corel and Fr. George Kramer as the celebrants. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Louis of France Catholic Church.
