Sherry Lynn Ruder, age 65, of Westphalia, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. She was born on March 13, 1946, at Salinas, Monterey County, California, a daughter Gilbert Sherman and Dorothy Winona (Brunner) Carpenter. Sherry was united in marriage on August 12, 1988, at Linn, to Vincent Robert Ruder Jr. Sherry was a member of the Catholic faith, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Jefferson City, and enjoyed antiques, shopping, gardening, fishing, camping, and motorcycling. During her working life, Sherry was employed by Dunkin Donuts in Jefferson City, where she made the donuts; at Capital Region Medical Center as a Dietary Manager for 15 years; then at the Residence Center in Jefferson City as the office manager; followed by being employed for eight years at Jefferson City Medical Group as Special Functions Manager until the time of her death. Those left to mourn the passing of Sherry include: her husband, Vince "J.R." Ruder, of the home near Westphalia; one brother-in-law, Fred Ruder and wife Lori, of Freeburg; and three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Ruder, Donna Ruder and Linda Ruder, all of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Visitation will be held for Sherry on Tuesday, August 9, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. A gathering of friends to remember Sherry will be planned for a later time. Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Disabled American Veterans Fund, the Leukemia Foundation, or the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
