Ruth Eleanor Arnold Rosser, age 92 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Westphalia Hills Nursing Center. She was born April 6, 1919, in West Unity, Ohio, the daughter of Frank L. and Ruth L. Money Arnold. She was married on October 4, 1942, in West Unity, Ohio, to Duane Gordon "Dutch" Rosser. She graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio with a degree in business. Eleanor and Dutch lived in Lexington, Ky. from 1948 - 2005 when they moved to Jefferson City, Mo. Eleanor taught business courses for one year after graduation, then worked for Willy's Jeep during World War II. She was the school secretary at Julia R. Ewan school from 1960-1962 and then taught junior high mathematics at Leestown Junior High School until 1971. She was then financial secretary for Southern Hills United Methodist Church until 1981. In her retirement she served as a pink lady at Good Samaritan Hospital. Survivors include: one brother, Robert Arnold of Virginia; one son, Jim Rosser and his wife Zelma King of Red Valley, Ariz.; one daughter, Marilyn Hofmann and her husband Jim of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Tasha Blackburn and her husband Philip, Daren Hofmann and his wife Sarah, Ezra Rosser and his wife Elvia, and Saul Rosser; and five great-grandchildren, Calum and Alena Blackburn, James and Amelia Hofmann, and Mateo Rosser Castro. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years; one brother, Ted Arnold; and one granddaughter, Rachel Rosser. A service of thanksgiving for her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Lexington, Ky., with a visitation from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City or the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
