Carolyn Faye Blagg Carroll, age 78 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at her home. She was born January 15, 1933, in Liberty, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Faye Cravens Blagg. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Southwest High School. Following graduation, she went West to attend the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. In January of her freshman year at college, she was introduced on a blind date to Robert Calvin Carroll of Clarksville, Mo., who was stationed in the Army in Albuquerque. She married him two months later, on March 8, 1952. Carolyn was an active volunteer until she suffered a stroke in 2006. She volunteered weekly at Capital Region Medical Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. While living in Hannibal, she was a member of King's Daughters. She was a member of First Christian Church since moving to Jefferson City more than 44 years ago, where she was in Mary's Circle. Carolyn loved traveling with Bob. In addition to the many trips they took as part of his job, they also took numerous trips with good friends. Among her favorite trips were annual pre-Christmas visits to New York City. Prior to each trip, Carolyn researched the newest and trendiest hotels and restaurants to experience. Other favorite trips made with friends included those to Greece and Alaska. Survivors include: her husband of 59 years, Robert "Bob" Carroll; four children, Christina Oliver, Nanci Gonder and her husband Gary, and Rob Carroll and his wife Erica, all of Jefferson City, and Julie Weinstock and her husband Ken of Sonoma, Calif.; four grandchildren, Evan Carroll Harrelson and his fiancÈe Kim Foulger of Napa, Calif., Logan Reed Oliver, Georgia Faye Gonder and Cameron Robert Carroll, all of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Junior Blagg. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the First Christian Church with the Reverend Donald Carter officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Carolyn loved her pets, and adopted several cats from Callaway Hills Animal Shelter.
