Margie Kathryn Baker, 96, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. She was born July 4, 1914, in Sandy Hook, the daughter of Curtis Nero and Elizabeth Jane (Cook) Deatherage, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage June 1, 1931, in California, to Leslie Allen Baker, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1989. She was a member of the Jamestown Assembly of God Church. Margie was a homemaker all of her life. She was raised in the Sandy Hook area, except for a period of time she lived on a farm with her family between Sandy Hook and Lupus. She attended school and church in these areas. Margie was well known for her delicious meals. Her family spent many happy hours gathered around her kitchen. She never turned anyone away hungry, whether family, friends, or hobos traveling through Sandy Hook. While living several years at Hyder Apartments in Jefferson City, she enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family, friends and neighbors. Survivors include: one son, James L. Baker and wife Marlene of Jefferson City; two daughters, Sylvia L. Daniels and her husband Donald of Holts Summit and Alice F. Martin and her husband Martin (Marty) of Sandy Hook; six grandchildren, James L. Baker Jr. (who Margie raised) and his wife Debra of Jefferson City, Katherine A. Loague (who Margie raised) and her husband Keith of Ulm, Mont., Jack A. Martin and his wife Amy of Jefferson City, Tammy L. Daly and husband James of Wells, Maine, Vicky S. Weathers of Columbia, and Timothy M. Baker and his wife Michelle of New Franklin; two step- grandchildren, Donald R. Daniels Jr. and wife Shelley of Jefferson City, and Gina Saxbury and husband Randy of Hannibal; 13 great grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter, six great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren on the way. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Curtis Deatherage and Charles Paul Deatherage; one sister, Rose Mary Todd; one step-grandson, Robert (Robbie) Daniels; and one great-great-granddaughter, Peanut Lovick. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jamestown Assembly of God. Burial will be at Concord Cemetery in Jamestown. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin Howard assisted by Pastor Justin Nichols. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the Jamestown Assembly of God.
