Johnnie William Sawyer

Johnnie William Sawyer, 82, of Jamestown, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at his daughter's home in Lohman, Missouri. He was born March 19, 1929, in Raymondville, Missouri, a son of the late Frank and America Alice (Barton) Sawyer. He was united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma, to Alberta Louise Johnson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Sawyer worked for Gold's Foundry & Machine Works, in Independence, Missouri; Walnut Products in St. Joseph, Missouri; Mosley's Saw Mill in Jefferson City, Missouri; and Callaway Hills Stables, New Bloomfield, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and playing the guitar. He is survived by his children: Frank and Mae Sawyer of Centertown, Mo., Alice and Fred Matthias of Lohman, Mo., Mary and Paul Schneider of Lohman, Mo., Debbie and Tom Hamline of Sweet Springs, Mo., Sandy and Joe Huckabee of Cardwell, Mo.; one brother Samuel Sawyer of Raymondville, Mo.; three sisters, Kathleen Sawyer and Nettie Conley of Houston, Mo. and Sylvia Goucher of Independence, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three sons: Arnold Sawyer, Mitch Hamilton and Doug Kirschner; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother and three sisters. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Chaplain Bruce Gardner officiating. Graveside Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mahan Cemetery in Raymondville, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
