Joseph Antweiler (Veteran)

Joseph Otto Antweiler, 92, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at St. Joseph Bluffs. He was born on August 3, 1918, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Christian and Elizabeth Hohm Antweiler. Joseph served with the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier. He was united in marriage on January 2, 1946, in Jefferson City, to Evelyn Regina Knernschield who preceded him in death on September 28, 2008. Joseph was an experienced aircraft mechanic with Lockheed Aircraft in California and Industrial Aviation in Jefferson City until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served on the parish council and coordinated and participated with perpetual adoration. He was a member and past president of Holy Name Society and was very active in many church and community organizations and activities. His greatest passions in life included his faith, farming, and most especially his family. Survivors include: four children, the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler, Loose Creek; Robert P. (Mari-Anne) Antweiler, Jefferson City; Thomas L. (Meryl) Antweiler, Jefferson City; Richard D. (Karen) Antweiler, Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Joshua Antweiler, Cassandra Atchison, Jessica Braun, Elizabeth Straatmann; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sr. Philomene Antweiler, Roseanna Mueller, Agnes Hentges; and two brothers, Larry and Christian Antweiler. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler, Rev. Msgr. Donald L. Lammers, the Rev. J. David Maher, and other priests of the diocese concelebrating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund, 216 Broadway St., Jefferson City, MO 65101; or Samaritan Center, 1310 East McCarty St. Jefferson City, MO 65101.
