Margie Juanita Atkinson, 93, of Holts Summit, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Summit Villa Nursing Home. She was born February 15, 1918, a daughter of Nettie Carder and Elmer Wade Howser in Miller County. On March 4, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harold Victor Atkinson who preceded her in death on January 20, 1975. Juanita was a 1936 graduate of Eldon High School. She worked for the State of Missouri Liquor Control and the Office of Administration from which she retired in 1978. She was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for 52 years which included Olean Baptist Church, Cedar City Baptist Church and the Union Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by five children: Donald Atkinson (wife Carol), Gene Atkinson (wife Susan), Mary Ann Ruth, Janis Convery (husband Jim) all of Jefferson City, and Roger Atkinson (wife Linda) of Chesterfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerald Atkinson and a brother, Kermit Howser. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Union Hill Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Frank Whitney officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in the Allen Cemetery near Olean. Memorials may be made to the Union Hill Baptist Church, the Organ Transplant Organization or the Charity of Donor's Choice.
