Ronald Dean Surface Sr., 58, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 16, 1953, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Carney J. Surface Sr. and Esther Thersia (Pirner) Surface. He was united in marriage on March 6, 1971, to Jeanette Gieck, who survives at their home. Ronald worked in maintenance for Wal-Mart for over 20 years. He loved playing men's softball and played until the age of 55. He also enjoyed hunting, hot rod cars, bowling, playing cards, shooting pool and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Along with his wife Jeanette, he is also survived by a daughter, Angela Kleindienst (husband Jim) of Jefferson City; a son, Ronald Surface Jr. (wife Sue Ann) of Jefferson City; a brother, Robert Surface (wife Alice) of Holts Summit; four grandchildren: Kevin Kleindienst, Austin Kleindienst, Ronald Surface III, Rachael Surface; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Surface of Holts Summit; several nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend, Butch Varner of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carney Surface Jr., Tommy Surface, and his twin Donald Surface; two sisters, Virginia Mae Surface and Bonnie Sue Surface. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 8, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
