Larry "Stricky" Strickfaden, 69, of California, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the California Care Center. He was born on October 18, 1941, in Moniteau County, the son of Elmer L. and Mary Ann (Albers) Strickfaden, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on April 14, 1962, at the Baptist Student Union in Columbia, to Karen (Bolin) Strickfaden, who survives of the home. He worked as a meat processor at Clennin Meats for over 20 years, worked at Yontz in Tipton for many years, worked for Cargill, and before his sickness he worked for the City of California. He attended The Lebanon Baptist Church. He was a Charter Member of the California Shooters Club and loved black powder shoots, hunting, fishing, trapping and the outdoors. He also enjoyed slow pitch softball and umpired for many years. He had a special place in his heart for kids who wanted to be outdoors, and made sure they had an opportunity to enjoy mother nature as much as him. He is survived by one son, David and wife Kelly Strickfaden of California; two daughters, Debbie and husband Kenny Bias of California, and Lois and husband Rusty Pruitt of Lake Ozark; one brother, Jerry and wife Sharon Strickfaden of Tipton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Burial will be at California City Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Spurling. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. also at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to YHEC, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, and the Blind Children's Fund, also c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.
