Mr. Henry P. Holliday, age 78 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born on June 21, 1932, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Arthur and Clara P. Loethen Holliday. He was married on June 2, 1951, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Joan Barnard. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Henry attended St. Peter School. Henry served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with a bronze star service medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed with Tweedie Footwear Factory, Delong's, Inc., and retired in 1994 as a supervisor with the Cole County Public Works Dept. after 26 years. Henry could build anything and enjoyed repairing cars. He also enjoyed his Javelin automobile, socializing with friends and spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Joan Holliday; one son, Dennis Holliday of Jefferson City, Mo; one sister, Anna Marie Crane and her husband Elmo of Harrisburg, Mo.; three grandchildren, Angela Holliday Brenner, De'Nel Holliday and Scott Holliday; and two great-grandchildren, Evan and Lauryn Brenner. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Charles Holliday, Marvin Holliday, Arthur Holliday and Harold Holliday; and two sisters, Elizabeth Livingston and Margaret Hicks. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Kenneth Funke officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Assn. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
