Mary Elizabeth Johnson, 57, of Holts Summit, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. She was born January 12, 1953, in Fulton, Missouri, to Thomas and Florence Reynolds. She was married February 27, 1971, to Floyd Johnson Jr., who survives at the home. She graduated from Lincoln University Laboratory High School in 1971. Mary continued her education at Lincoln University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in May, 1979. She worked for the State of Missouri for 26 years and retired in November 2006, from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Mary was a devoted Christian and a lifelong member of Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary. Mary was also a very devoted and beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Florence Reynolds, and one brother, Tommy Reynolds. She is survived by one son, Derrick (Jenifer) Johnson of Kansas City; two daughters, Sherrita Johnson of Kansas City and Adrienne Johnson of Lawrence, Kansas; one grandson, Antonio Johnson of Kansas City; four sisters, Johnella Jackson of Kendallville, Indiana, Diann (Taurus) Mays of Jefferson City, Willie Mae Davis of Jefferson City, and Emma Jean McDaniels of Kansas City; one brother, Howard Reynolds of Kansas City; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church near Guthrie with Rev. Marion Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Chapel Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the name of Mary E. Johnson to the American Cancer Society or to Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
