Joseph Bushko (Veteran)

Joseph G. Bushko, 82, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Autumn Meadows Nursing Home in Linn. He was born September 6, 1928, in Taylor, Pa., a son of the late George J. and Katherine (Wasta) Bushko. He was a 1946 graduate of Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1955, from Rolla School of Mines, in Rolla. On April 16, 1955, Joe was united in marriage in Oran, to Rosemary Vogel, who survives at their home. Joe started working for the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department as a Civil Engineer in 1955, and worked in construction, planning, and retired as Transportation Engineer in 1988. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army from 1951 -1953. He served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph; the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers; and was Co-Founder of the Learning Disabilities Association. Along with his wife Rosemary, Joe is also survived by four children, Cary J. Bushko (wife JoAnn) of Lee's Summit; Stephen J. Bushko (wife Rachelle) of Holts Summit, Laura C. Rockers (husband John) of Duluth, Ga., Mary E. "Bee" Evans (husband Tracy) of Four Seasons; six grandchildren: Jessica Stout, Madeline Bushko, Michelle Rockers, Kelly Rockers, Andrew Evans, and Amy Evans; one brother, George B. Bushko of Naples, Fla.; and one sister, Eleanor Arm of Jackson, N.J. Private family services will be held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Entombment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mid-MO Alzheimer Association, 2400 Bluff Creek Drive; Columbia, MO 65201 or the Memorial to MODOT's Fallen Workers, State Highway Employees Association District 7, in c/o Highway Credit Union, 3901 E. 32nd Street, Joplin, MO 64804.
