Mrs. Harriet Boyer

unknown - unknown

Mrs. Harriet I. Boyer, 94, of Jefferson City, Missouri, died Monday, May 17, 2010, at Heisinger Lutheran Home.
Harriet was born in St. Louis on February 10, 1916, a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Reden Schauber. She graduated from Normandy High School at the age of 15 and went on to attend Harris Teachers College in St. Louis and to receive her Master's degree in Education from Webster College. On September 16, 1942, Harriet was united in marriage to Dr. Mark Allen Boyer in Providence, Rhode Island. He survives her at home. Harriet played an integral role in the educational development of countless Missouri youngsters as a first grade teacher with the Normandy and University City public schools for more than 30 years. Harriet and Mark made their home in Normandy where they raised their two sons. They later lived in Laurie before moving to Jefferson City in 1985, where they enjoyed participating in several square and round dancing organizations both as members and as teachers, exercising at the YMCA, dining at Mel's CafÈ, and attending Wesley United Methodist Church. Harriet is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Mark Allen Boyer; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Peter and Diane Boyer of Jefferson City and Mike and Bonnie Boyer of Littleton, Colorado; her five grandsons and their wives, Mark and Lori Boyer of Oak Park, Illinois, Dr. Gregory and Kristin Maienschein Boyer of Jefferson City, Timothy and Mayuko Boyer of Culver City, California, and Scott Boyer and Theo Boyer, both of Denver, Colorado; and her seven great-grandchildren, Lily, James, Kate, Liza, Will, Sakura, and Neo, each of whom adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Elizabeth Krekeler. Those wishing to offer their condolences to the family may do so Saturday, May 22, 2010, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Heisinger Lutheran Home Chapel. A private family memorial service officiated by Chaplain Jim Mueller will be held earlier that day. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or to an organization of the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
