Ruby Marie Haldiman, 93, of Raytown, formerly of Jamestown, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City.
Ruby was born on January 23, 1917, in Olean, the daughter of John Leroy and Margaret Melissa (Bond) Ackers, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on November 1, 1941, to John F. Haldiman of Jamestown, who preceded her in death on July 22, 2007. She graduated from Eldon High School in 1933 and began her teaching career right after that in Moniteau County, where she taught for a number of years. She earned her BS and MS in Education from Warrensburg State Teachers College. In 1948 the family moved to Kansas City, and in 1955 she accepted a teaching position in the Hickman Mills School District, where she taught third grade another 22 years and retired in 1978. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Jamestown. She always enjoyed reading, cooking, and traveling. She was a member of the Smoky Squares Square Dance Club, and enjoyed spending many winters in Texas and summers at the lake with her husband. She is survived by her son: Dennis Haldiman and wife Jeanne of Lee’s Summit; and one grandson: Ian Billard of Sydney, Australia. Besides her husband of 66 years and her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters: Pearl Ranabargar, Irene Shikles, and Lucille Laue; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Jamestown. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Evangelical Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Chester Marshall. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. n 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Jamestown. Memorials are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145, or to St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S.
