unknown - unknown

Joyce Faye Haulenbeek Gardner, age 61, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
"Joycey" as she was known by those close, was born on December 7, 1948, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Frank Gilbert and Zona Faye (Coots) Haulenbeek. Joyce was raised in the Cedar City and Jefferson City area, where she attended school. She was the fifth of six girls and the sixth of nine children. In her early working career she worked at the California Turkey Plant, Unilever and then at Villa Marie, until illness forced her retirement. Joyce loved keeping in touch by phone, enjoyed her flowers, rummage sales, and celebrated every holiday in her own style with earrings, hair tie and blouse to match the day. Joyce loved the thrill of finding a bargain and was the ultimate "make do" on what you have person. She never met a dollar store that she could pass up on her travels. She enjoyed time with her grandson, many nieces/nephews and great- nieces/nephews. She was the "queen" of one liners with pearls of wisdom mixed into them. Joyce enjoyed long lasting friendships with many people including Colecamp Nancy, Nancy S. and Toodie. Joyce enjoyed spending weekends with niece, Rachel (Larry) Hammond, and great-niece, Lauren, in the "motel room" and spent most of her last months there. Joyce enjoyed T.O.P.S every Tuesday. She had a winning smile, never knew a stranger, loved life and always had a positive attitude. Joyce was the strong family type, keeping everybody in touch. We will miss Joyce daily and look to her shining example for strength in the days to come. Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Faye Gardner, one grandson Daymeian Williams, both of Jefferson City; former husband Herbert "Butch Reed" Gardner, Jefferson City; two brothers, Tim and Rena Haulenbeek, Jefferson City, and Charles "Tappy" and Tiffany Haulenbeek, Centertown; four sisters, Judy Blank, Hartsburg, Kathryn "Kitty" Berry and Danny Morff, Centertown, Lynn and Don Cazzell, Eugene, and Janice Smallwood, Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Carol Haulenbeek, Jefferson City; and one brother-in-law Donald Backes, Holts Summit. She was preceded in death by one brother Frank Gilbert Haulenbeek Jr.; one sister, Sandra Lee Backes; and one brother-in-law, Karl Blank.
