Sharon Wilson Patterson, 79, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away Monday, March, 15, 2010, at her residence.
She was born on June 20, 1930, in Braymer, Missouri, to Ernie Nathan and Ruby J. Belshe Wilson. Sharon was a 1948 graduate of North Kansas City High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1952. She worked as a Registered Dietician for the Center School District in Kansas City, Missouri and then later became a Dietary Consultant for the State of Missouri Department of Social Services, Division of Aging, from 1979 until her retirement in 1995. Sharon balanced her dedication to her career with the responsibilities of raising five children, her primary devotion in life. She imparted her love of good food, reading, music, art and theater to her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, her beloved pets brought her companionship and joy. Sharon is remembered by all who knew her for her brilliant smile and optimism. She is survived by her five children: Katherine Patterson Munoz and her husband Lee of Denver, Colorado; William Vance Patterson and his wife Jane of Fort Worth, Texas; Michael Wayne Patterson of Columbia, Missouri; Scott Wilson Patterson and his wife Sabine of Lodi, New York; and Heather Patterson Jones and her husband Randy of Columbia, Missouri; one brother: Christopher A. Wilson and his wife Leslie of Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandchildren: Blake Patrick Munoz of Orlando, Florida; and Zachary Lee Jones of Columbia, Missouri. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Millard Family Funeral Home in Columbia, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, with Reverend Keith Vessel officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Wheeling Cemetery near Chillicothe, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
