Mr. Walter H. Brauner, 75, of California, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
Walter was born on June 9, 1934, in Jefferson City, the son of Clarence and Rose (Goeller) Brauner, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on July 9, 1955, in St. Martins, to Loretta Distler, who survives at the home. Walter was employed at the Jefferson City Bakery for 18 years and then became a member of the Laborers Union #662 for 20 years. Upon retirement from the Union, he went to work for Burger's Smokehouse and then Cal's Thriftway in California. Walter was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church and was involved in the Catholic Knights. Walter is survived by two sons: Darrell Brauner and wife Pam of Holts Summit, and Stanley Brauner and wife Pam of California; three daughters: Sally Hager and husband Sam of St. Martins, Laura Monsees and husband Kari of Wentzville, and Donna Anderson and husband David of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter-in-law: Pam Brauner of Centertown; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one brother: Joseph Brauner of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by two sons: Timothy Brauner and Mark Brauner. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Annunciation Catholic Church in California. Interment will be at Annunciation Catholic Cemetery in California. Officiating will be Father Fred Elskamp. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. n 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California. There will be a prayer service following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California.
