John E. Morris, age 66, of Henley, died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Eugene on January 23, 1944, a son of the late Otis and Dorothy Dean Morris. On November 21, 1960, in Jefferson City, he was married to Bernice Francis Engelbrecht. John was a graduate of Eugene High School, a lifelong carpenter and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Honey Creek. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting, and tending to his horses, mules, and donkeys.
Those who survive him include: his wife of 49 years, Bernice Morris of the home; five sons, Neal and wife Darla Morris of Jefferson City, Kevin Morris of Jefferson City, Mark and wife Tammy Morris of Henley, Matt Morris of Houston, Texas, Michael Morris of Iberia; four daughters, Chris and husband Brady Hagerman of Henley, Vonda and husband Mike Berendzen of Henley, Melissa and husband Tim Luebbert of Jefferson City, Joni and husband Jason Wilbers of Loose Creek; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Schilpp of Independence, three brothers, Audley and wife Polly Morris of Eldon, Jim and wife Doris Morris of Jefferson City, Danny and wife Elaine Morris of Eugene; and a sister-in-law, Irene Morris of Eldon. His father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Clara Engelbrecht; three brothers, Gail, Melvin and George Morris; a sister, Dorothy Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Harlan Engelbrecht and Jim Schilpp Sr., also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church Honey Creek in Jefferson City. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church Honey Creek. Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher will officiate. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
