Ambrose Louis Falter, 76, of Holts Summit, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born September 1, 1933, in Freeburg, a son of Fritz W. and Regina Morfield Falter. He was a graduate of Freeburg High School. On June 1, 1957, Ambrose was united in marriage to Ola Mae Bryan, who preceded him in death on November 8, 2004. Ambrose served in the United States Army in Korea during the Korean War. He was employed with McGraw Edison as a quality control manager the majority of his career, then worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a corrections officer until his retirement in February of 2000. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren and playing cards and board games with them. Ambrose liked to tinker with engines of all sizes and do different types of mechanical work in his spare time. If something was broken, he always found a way to fix it. Survivors include four children: Nancy Apinyakul and husband Pete of Jefferson City, Deborah Painter and husband Robert, Steven Falter and wife Julie and Christopher Falter all of Holts Summit; six grandchildren: Michael Apinyakul of Portland, Oregon, Kristen Painter of Fulton, Madison Painter of Holts Summit, Draven Falter of Holts Summit, Christina Falter of Jefferson City, Sophia Kempker of Holts Summit; two brothers, Roman Falter and Harold Falter of Freeburg; two sisters: Georgia Boehmer of Freeburg, Margaret Sankey of Koeltztown; and his loving companion, Arline Laubert of Freeburg. He was preceded in death by one brother, Felix Falter. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Msgr. Gregory L. Higley officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.
