James Fredrick Schuricht, 78, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the University of Missouri Medical Center after a short illness.
He was born in Jefferson City, on February 15, 1932, a son of the late Fred and Ethel (Kramp) Schuricht. James was educated in Jefferson City and received his masters in statistics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea and Fort Riley, Kansas. James was married in 1953, to Shirley Seaman, who preceded him in death. They resided in the St. Louis area where he worked for McDonald Douglas (now Boeing) as a statistician until his early retirement. James was a loving, devoted husband to Shirley, taking care of her while she suffered with M.S. and was later confined to a wheelchair. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and living on his family's farm that meant so much to him. James was an avid animal lover, having several pets throughout his life, including his cats, Blackie and Bandit. He was a member of the American Legion Post 5, University of Missouri-Columbia Alumni Association, ASPCA, and Heart of Missouri Good Sams Trailers Club. He is survived by one sister: Mae Conelley of Jefferson City; two nieces: Sandra Hoffman of Russellville and Gail Seaman of Dallas, Texas; one nephew: Eric Seaman of Columbia; and one brother-in-law: Fred Seaman of Centralia. Visitation will be at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., where services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Murl Nash officating. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the ASDCA or the charity of the donor's choice.
