Mabel Marie Renkemeyer, 65, of Vienna, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, in the Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna. Mrs. Renkemeyer had been in failing health for some time.
She was born January 29, 1915, at Brinktown, a daughter of Henry and Margaret Maggie (Fitzpatrick) Brandel She was first united in marriage on November 7, 1934, at Brinktown, to Joseph Henry Wansing who preceded her in death on January 7, 1953. Mabel was later united in marriage on February 13, 1954, at Vienna, to Victor John Renkemeyer. Mrs. Renkemeyer was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna. She had been a cook and waitress for the Highway 63 CafÈ for several years as well as being a loving and devoted housewife and homemaker for all her working life. She was an excellent cook, loved to play cards, especially pitch and poker, and loved to go fishing with friends. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Renkemeyer include: her husband, Victor J. Renkemeyer of the home near Vienna; two sons, Harold Wansing, Park Hills; and Michael Renkemeyer, Vienna; one sister, Mary Kloeppel, St. Louis; one grandson, Joe Wansing, Farmington; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her first husband Mrs. Renkemeyer was preceded in death by one daughter, Beatrice Margaret Wansing on April 25, 2003; her parents; two brothers, Mike Brandel and Lawrence Brandel; five sisters, Nora Schmitz, Agnes Kloeppel, Teresa Bauer, Sara Meyer, and Dorothy Kloeppel; five brothers-in-law, Bill Rehagen, Bob Rehagen, Don Buelher, Victor Stegeman and Francis Markway; and three sisters-in-law, Delores Markway, Irene Stegeman, and Thelma Renkemeyer. A Prayer Service was held for Mrs. Renkemeyer at 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2010, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Msgr. Marion Makarewicz leading. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Renkemeyer at 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, July 10, 2010, in the Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna, with Msgr. Marion Makarewicz celebrating. Lectors for the Mass were Sister Rita Marie Schmitz and Sister Linda Markway. Eucharistic Minister was Nina Stratman; Acolytes were Selby Pollreisz, Devon Buschman, Hailey Buschman, and Lexie Humphrey. During the Offertory Procession, the gifts were borne to the altar by Steve Steinman and Carol Steinman. The Visitation Catholic Church Choir sang appropriate Catholic selections and was accompanied by organists Gloria Brunnert and Brenda Weidinger. Interment was in the Visitation Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Active pallbearers for Mrs. Renkemeyer were Tom Kloeppel, Bob Meyer, Larry Weidinger, Kevin Richter, Ric Heckman and Curt Renkemeyer. Honorary pallbearers were Viola Richardson, Naomi Rehagen, Lucille Buehler, Bernice Heckman, Lillian Redel, Irma Richter, and Velma Renkemeyer. Spiritual offerings to be applied for Masses or memorial contributions to the Visitation Catholic School are preferred by the family with envelopes available at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
